Abstract

Accelerated digitization, economic instability and increasing sustainability pressures highlight the concept and issues of firm performance evaluation.  In this sense, the aim of the research is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the evolution and structure of research on the topic of firm performance, with the aim of identifying the main trends, dominant concepts and future research directions. The research methodology is based on the analysis of 932 scientific papers, the most intensively cited, published in the period 1975-2025 in the Web of Science database. Bibliometrix and VOSviewer software were used for data processing and visualization. The research results highlight a transition in research from a traditional financial approach to a multidimensional one that integrates strategic, social, ecological and technological factors. The paper contributes to clarifying the conceptual architecture of the field and provides a solid foundation for future research on organizational performance in a changing global environment.
